Lewis House Travel

TRAVEL THE WORLD WITH US

Lewis House Travel is pleased to offer exceptional trips to significant places in the history of Christianity in Europe. Usually ranging from 6-9 nights, our trips include not only visiting exceptional sites, but also meeting interesting people, excellent accommodations, free books, short topical readings and discussions, and flexibility for travelers to experience the locations how they would like.

What makes Lewis House Travel unique is each of our trips is accompanied by one of our Guides. Our Guides usually have advanced training in theology, history, or the Bible, relevant to the place. This Guide will be available to you throughout the trip. Other specialized guides will lead us through various sites, but all along the way you’ll have another expert to bounce questions or ideas off as we travel.

FAQ

The majority of the cost comes from two things: lodging and activities. For lodging, we don’t want to skimp and put the group up in a European hostel. We want our accommodations to be safe and nice. Think 4-star hotel in a good location. That’s our target. For activities, the entrance costs for tours, the specialty guides at various locations, and honoraria for some of the Christian intellectuals we meet along the way—all this is baked into the cost.

A smaller portion of the trip cost goes in a couple of other directions. First, overhead and operational costs. Running trips like these requires a lot of behind the scenes work. Second, to our staff. Our staff are a hardworking bunch and they all fundraise their salaries. These trips require a lot of planning, time away from family, and it’s an addendum onto our staff’s normal workload. We want to make sure they can afford to go on the trip with some compensation on top of that.

We considered booking transportation together, but we ran into a few problems. First, not everyone will travel from the same port. We’re based in Lexington, KY, but not all of our travelers are. This makes it easier for people outside of our area to join us, without the hassle of coming here.

But we also wanted to leave space for maximum flexibility. You may want to capitalize on the trip and go earlier or stay later than the group. You may want to fly first class. You may have an abundance of airline miles to make things cheaper. You may want to fly out of a different airport or with a particular airline. By meeting in Oxford, we allow people to customize their trip. That said, we do offer free transportation booking. You can work with our Planner to book flights and transportation to/from Oxford, completely free of charge.

Each trip is different. Our policy is: if we can get the money back, you can have it back. Each trip will have a clear policy and a clear refund timeline. But we didn’t want to set an arbitrary deadline that applies to all trips, because the lodging and activities may have different rules about refunds.

So, we will let you know up front, for each trip, what the policy is. But rest assured: if you need to cancel, we’ll do what we can to get your money back in full.
